Interruption Due to Swap or be careful what you comment on

There I was innocently commenting about another's thrift store haul: wool and cashmere sweaters galore. Out of nowhere comes the email "Do you want to swap?" and so began my swap with the indomitable Lisa K of I Knew That!.
I have to admit that I was intimidated at first, here was a swap professional. I researched, I worried. This is a woman who has her finger on the pulse of the craft blog world. Exhibit A: Doll Quilt Swap organized by said blogger. Exhibit B: Whip Up.
I have to say that the softness of cashmere always takes me by surprise. Cashmere yarn is a tactile delight, but add needles and water - once that sucker is allowed to bloom (and that is a legitimate yarn term folks) well, babies' bottoms don't even come close. Did you see that stack? Exponential softness.
You know you owned this sweater or at least coveted one in junior high. Let's hear it for intarsia!

I left this haul in the living room and went out to teach a beginning knitting private lesson. I arrived home to beseechings of, "Can this be my sweater? I love it!" What do you do?

Not satisfied to simply inundate me with cashmere, like a mother bird, oh-so-gently nudging her baby bird out of the nest, Lisa also included fabric and a Wee Wonderfuls pattern. My admiration is evident in my comment trail, here and here.

In the foreground? Yes, that is a card. Yes, that is a knitting robot. Since I am feeling so link happy, the card is from the talented Claire over at Needlebook. Which segues nicely into machine knitting - update on that later today.

Yay, you got your box! I was worried with the freeway being out of commission that It'd be delayed. I'm a filipina already getting tanner from the springtime sun, so I can't really blush (teehee), but IF I DID...what nice things you've said about me, Sonya! Shucks. Thank you.
I'm tickled pink with the box of goodies *I* received in the swap, too! Many of them have already made it into a doll quilt top. If you wondered about your sweaters arriving as sleeveless as a Journey video, it's because by the time we swapped, I'd found betz white's tutorial,** perfect for Easter giving for the nieces and nephews. Heh heh.
So, that intarsia sweater was actually still available from the manufacturer very recently, for something like $130! I don't know, but the colors are so saturated and rich. It came t h i s close to being a tote bag.
My favorite is your daughter in that sleeveless sweater. I can only imagine her delight in wading through that pile of sweaters. Hooray for swapping!

Your daughter's smile is gorgeous. You would have to give her anything. Her mouth is good for my drawings and I hope you don't mind if I borrow the cute in-ey bits at the side of her mouth.

where on earth do people find thrifted cashmere jumpers? I mean... are we in the same planet? I can hardly find stuff in 50% wool these days...
I'm very jealous.
What are you going to make?
