That's right, I used to make things

Needle felted sign

Needle felted sign

Some weeks ago, Christina over at Article Pract, mentioned "replacement open and shut sign" together with the words "needle felt". Usually, I write things down but something new overtakes that initial excitement. But one thing led to another, I had the perfect color for the background, some roving that had some, well adherence issues, from wet felting and I had some beautiful brown roving for the lettering. I was thinking of stitching around the edges or punching out eyelets, but when I set to work, the flower just appeared. Serendipity.

And a shameless plug for a coda: you too could learn to needle felt. I'm teaching a class at Article Pract, Saturday, June 30th 1-3pm. You can find more information here.

Beautiful beautiful work!

one of my older UFO's is a needle felted knitting witch.

her face, her body, her hair is done.

all i need to do is knit her stockings -red and white striped ones of course--and feet!
and to knit her some clothing.. (a lace shawl, and definately a lace hat.

i know exact where she is (collecting dust) maybe this is the time to finisher her off!

Oh, I love that flower with the ball of yarn at the bottom!!! Well done....

risa:

beautiful! i love the ball of yarn!!! i wish i could take the class!

That is beautiful! You know, my friend got me a needle felting kit for my birthday with needles, a bunch of pretty roving, a foam block thing...but I haven't tried it yet. I thought needle felting was more for making cute little animal doll type things, which I like, but I didn't realize you could also do stuff like this, which I love! I could make a cute sign or picture for June's room! Thanks for the inspiration!

these are lovely!!!

Sign me up! Oh, wait. I'm in Kansas. ::sigh::
Lovely. And I love that the flower is open and shut. I wonder how many people walking into the store realize that subtle detail.

This is the MOSTEST!!!!
