Beautiful Film Week - Day 5

Lights

Grave of the Fireflies is from Studio Ghibli of Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro fame, but this one will tug at the heart strings. Very stark in its representation of Japan during World War II. Don't let the animation mislead you. Like Maus, this movie uses the medium to push the envelope. Most of the other movies I've listed I either own or have seen several times - this one, just the once. That was enough to leave an indelible impression.

I cry my fool eyes out whenver I see that movie. (Twice, I think.)

I thought I had seen all the Studio Ghibli films, but not this one. Thanks. I will check it out.
