The Subtle Art of Granola Making
It all started with seeing this recipe way back in June. Then our local co-op wasn't able to stock our favorite bulk granola for a spell. Seeing this kick-started things again. With good intentions, I trucked home a big bag o' oats, the wheat germ and other ingredients. Life, as it has a habit of doing, got in the way of my granola producing.
The final straw was this. Message from the universe: Make Granola. It does indeed make the whole house smell amazing.

Granola is one of those things I always mean to make but don't ever get around to actually doing it. Yours looks delish!

OMG I love that you found me a granola recipe that has no nuts in it!!! This is awesome!
Did you use maple in yours? I think I'm more of a honey girl. Ooh. And maybe some cinnamon. Yum.

Yum, I love homemade granola--I think I stopped making it because I got all ambitious one time, doubled the recipe and then burnt it. Now it is back on my list!

I know, the smell makes it worth it even if it didn't taste so good.

Here's what we put in our raw granola...totally worth the effort, and it dehydrates into granola bars or granola cluster crunch cereal really nicely! This is a good one if you're cutting down on grains, too.
Sesame Seeds
Currants
Cranberries
Pistachios
Pecans
Dried coconut
Sunflower seeds
Almonds
Pumpkin seeds
Hemp seeds
Bee Pollen
Vanilla Water
Poppy seeds
Cinnamon
Ginger
Cloves
Nutmeg
Allspice
Dried Sprouted Buckwheat
Oats-(oats are NOT raw, but I love them anyway!)
Yacon syrup or Honey
Date sugar
Banana
Strawberries
Serve with Raw (unpasteurized) Milk

Your granola looks super-tasty. I love making granola. I throw flax seeds, almonds, dried coconut, dried cranberries (craisins?) and vanilla into mine. Speaking of which, I haven't made some in months. Thanks for motivating me to make some again.

Ooooh! I was on a serious granola-making kick about a year or so ago, but I haven't made any since then. I'll admit, I've been buying Trader Joe's pumpkin seed granola by the boat load. I'll have to get back on that homemade kick. Thanks for reminding me!
