n.
Based on the Japanese amigurumi, using knitting in the place of the traditional crochet. Small stuffed animals or food or other inanimate objects, where emphasis is placed on the cuteness.

Awesome! I love this little panda! I wish I could check out your class. I recently got a book on amigurumi, but I am having a hard time learning how to crochet.

i know it's terrible being pendantic (like a "pendant") ...
but actually AMI gurumi means "knitted" little animals/toys. NUI gurumi means sewn.
the ami prefix denotes knitting with the two sticks.
kagibari-ami is knitting with the one hook.
so really in japan, there's just "knitting" and some knitting done with the hook. so your little fella is authentic "amigurumi" :)
