Better-late-than-never tea parties or I'm not that type of mother

Tea Party II

Here it is Thursday already. We did have a tea party on Saturday to coincide with the lovely Vanessa's Mad Tea Party. Then another on Tuesday. This tea party madness is contradictory to my usual laissez faire parenting: Kid's playing on the playground structure after school? No need for a visit to the park. All right, lazy parenting. But heat water, cut fruit, slice bread and presto, the kids are entertained! Then I get to sip tea on the back deck with the dappled sun shining through the wisteria. Lovely.

Tea Party III

My only tea time memory is having clotted cream and strawberry jam atop a scone during a trip to New Zealand. I must have been twelve. Food, maybe that's the hook. An excuse for cupcakes, Stroopwafel or canelé. There's your answer.

Tea and scones? Yum!

I nearly made scones today but went with cheese muffins instead as for a funeral morning tea and everyone else seemed to be making sweet stuff.

Your tea party looks scrummy :)

erin:

all those goodies are certainly tempting.

sounds dreamy! Happy 4th :-)

Um... YUM! I'm drooling. Now I must go find breakfast!

That all looks so delicious! Am I invited? ;o)

Wishing you a happy July 4th!

Oh YUmmy Yummy DAY!!! I am soooo glad I can come and snuggle up in your bloglette, and nibble s'more!!! Miss lovely Sonya, your spread and your photos are more than sublime!! Lots of xoxoxoox's from me and the clan!!

Pretty pictures and yum food! (don't worry, I am a lazy mother too :-)

Canele...
Lazy mother?!? This is your proof? Damn.

Delish.

I love the idea of stroopwafel and have always felt a little cheated that I've never managed to find an iron to make my own.

john:

Stroopwafel, my addiction.

Anna:

Making note: lazy mother not what I thought it to be.
Clotted cream? We don't get that here. Bought it once in Harrod's, London, of all places to bring home on the plane. Naturally wasn't edible by the time I got home. But the Harrod's bag was posh.

Ooo, I almost bought one of those fold up treat stands(?) this spring at an antique store. Very cute in red. (the one I saw was coppery green) How do you like it?
